Do You Know What Your Kids Are Doing At Night?

I really thought they were nice kids.
I really thought their parents brought up three well-behaved children.

Actually the older boy and younger girl weren't involved. Are middle kids the troublemakers? I know when my hubby was a kid and he did stupid things, but not stupid things like this.

Saturday night I was in bed playing Scrabble on the Nintendo DS. I was just finishing up a game and I was ready to turn it off and put it away. Hubby had just turned off the living room light and was in the washroom washing up before coming to bed when suddenly an extremely loud noise scared the shite out of me. My heart skipped a beat.

I thought someone was trying to break into the house. The bedroom windows were opened and I heard feet running across the grass followed by sounds of naughty girly giggles. After being shocked himself and with a "What the HELL was that?!" hubby went to investigate. He decided to look out of the peep hole on the front door as he didn't know what to expect. He didn't want to go out and be confronted with a drunk or be swarmed by a group of young punks looking for trouble.

It turns out it was one of our neighbourhood kids (he may be 14 yrs old) with a couple of his friends. Hubby saw them go into the house diagonally across from our house. It was freakin' 1:00AM! I don't know if his parents were home or not. Hubby waited till they came out of the house and then he opened the front door and caught the "deer" in its headlights. That's exactly what our neighbourhood kid looked like. He was stunned when hubby put him in the spotlight (with his flashlight) while his buddies ran the other way. Hubby threatened to call the cops while he tried to sign language to hubby his what-I-didn't-do-it attitude.

A few minutes later, the parents of his buddies came to pick them up.

These kids are also the ones that play basketball on the street at 12 midnight.

Where the hell are the parents and would you let your kids play on the street at midnight?

OH MY GOSH Sophia...sounds like some of the idiots that live in our neighborhood.

When J was a teenager, she wasn't allowed to run through the neighborhood at any time of the day. We just didn't allow that and certainly not after 10pm. If teens are out running thru the neighborhood after 10pm on foot, they are most likely up to no good or at the very least going to make a lot of noise for other folks.

I would tell his parents that you didn't appreciate this type of nonsense at 1am. If it ever happened again, you bet your ass I would be calling the police.

NO, I would not let my kids play outside on the street at midnight. Being out this late can usually lead to trouble. If you know that these kids are out this late, I would keep an eye out because we had an issue like this but in our case the kids were older. I would just call the cops if you hear noise outside late at night and the cops know who it is. I would say to talk to the parents first but if you don't know them that well, it just may cause more problems.

Neither would I. We found a footprint on the door just below the mail box.

We let him off this time, but if it happens again, we're calling the cops.

Those kids really needs a strict attention. I wonder how or what disciplinary actions they are receiving.
