A Thorn In My Backside...

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Okay...so the thorns didn't really nail me on my backside, but they did cut up my arms and hands.

Now here is my story.

My hubby and I enjoy going out into our backyard to pick fresh red raspberries which come into season 2 weeks before the black raspberries. Over the past month, we have been out picking our fresh organic berries and getting cut up by the prickly thorns that are on the stems.

I am not sure why they even have thorns other than perhaps to keep animals from eating them...but then again, berries are meant to be food for both humans and wild animals.

I really wish that berry bushes would be thorn-less as its a pain in the arse to come back inside, clean up the boo-boos, get out the tweezers and then sit down and hand pick out all the splinters/thorns. ugh!!!

The price we pay I guess for wanting fresh berries!

So, my peeve today deals with just that...thorns! I hate them! I wish plants, bushes and of course rose bushes would be thorn-less!

I think you have to wear arm armour before you go berry picking again. That is a pain. But I bet you're enjoying your berries. :)

Roses will not be that enchanting if it doesn't have any thorns. Just like what we have in our life.

I have a thorn less blackberry bush I got from Lowe's last year. I have small children that pick berries so I wanted one that would not hurt them.
